Moisturizing products come in all kinds of consistencies. Some women have severely dry skin, so they lean more towards purchasing moisturizers that are thicker in consistency and oil based. While women with oilier skin types enjoy lighter moisturizers that keep the sebum produced on the skin at bay. Combination skins have lots of items on the shelves and online to choose from as well. They also come in all kinds of packaging: tubes, jars, and even pump bottles. Although, it is what’s on the inside that counts but tubes and pump bottles are a lot more hygienic since you don’t have to dip your hands right in the concoction repeatedly.

Do we really need to moisturize?

Now hear me out, ladies and gents, the answer to the above question is YES, all capital letters because you all need it no matter how much you deny it. You could skip your best friend’s birthday party, but you cannot skip moisturizer. How about we try and not skip either. All fun apart, moisturizing is essential. For every season no matter what the reason. You could rap while you moisturize like I just did. But don’t forget about your skincare needs. When the skin is dry it’s time to try, if it rhymes it’s not a crime. Moisturize, ladies and gents, we all need to.

In the morning:

There are creams, serum, and lotions that are specifically designed to keep your skin as soft as the softness of a newborn baby’s bum. Also, day creams have SPF that provides a barrier on your skin against sunrays that are proven to age your skin. I scoop out plenty of day cream and massage it gently all over my face, neck, and ears; let it soak in for 20 minutes as I chug a huge mug of coffee before work and head out chin high. I have become so used to it that it doesn’t even feel like a mandatory task I need on my to-do list. Which, to be honest with you guys, was on my to-do list but not anymore. I have slowed down nature’s cruel plan to give me wrinkles. Your girl is going through her days moisturized and protected and she wants the same for you.

At night:

Oh, the sweet bliss of coming home from work or being done with every chore in the house. What instantly comes to mind: cozy up in bed like there’s no tomorrow. If I so courageously interrupt this fine choice… your skin just called, it wants you to wake up, cleanse all the dirt and makeup of the day, and massage it with a suitable moisturizer that will support you throughout the night. All the turns and twists pressed cheeks and drool. Not to forget, it is scientifically proven that our skins absorb most of the product that we apply while we are asleep. My personal Dermatologist recommended that when staying in it’s good for the skin to have nothing on so the pores can breathe. However, night creams are not something to slack on.

Our overall body:

Now that we are done with our face, all freshly moisturized and glistening all throughout the day and during slumber, it is time to look down. Our feet, legs, arms, and hands crave the same taste of renewal, and it would be unfair to ignore their hunger. Let’s work our ways from face to toe, get geared up, and give the rest of your body some love too.

Feet:

Heels crack, toes dry, sliding in heels curl our feet to such discomfort that only us girls know the pain of and the wave of respite that washes over us as we take them off. Our feet need care and hydration just as much as the rest of our skin. A good dollop of lotion to heal the cracks while hydrating your entire feet is vital. I keep a bottle of lotion on my nightstand and use it on my feet every night before I go to sleep. It is so convenient and being lazy about it has very low chances since it is just arm’s length away. I have very dry skin, so I like mine to cater to that problem. I also love the smell of fresh coconuts; flavored lotions are magical. Draw some up your leg too for the goodness to reach all the dry areas there too.

Hands:

See those beautiful, restless, and accommodating hands? They need a massage to feel at home too. I always have a tube of hand lotion in my everyday handbag. Did you know there are hand moisturizers that also have ingredients that help with nail dryness as well? Take off the cap, squeeze the tube as you make a cream line on your arm all the way from your hands till your arms, and massage it ever so gently. Lotions, moisturizers, oils, so many options to experiment with and grow used to. I prefer, as I have mentioned earlier, scented products. But if that isn’t exactly your cup of tea, there are scent-free moisturizers that do just the same.

To conclude:

Our skin needs these oils and creams. In all seasons and even before we apply makeup so our skin soaks in the healthy moisturizer instead of makeup clogging our pores. So, moisturize your face, hands, feet – your overall body needs it to maintain its elasticity and youthfulness. Go around giving people the softest handshakes they have ever experienced, not to brag but I have been told I have a very gentle handshake owing of course to my moisturizing habits. Keep every part of your body smooth and hydrated. Some parts of our bodies tend to need more moisture than the rest, for example, elbows and knees. You could provide them with twice the effort by reapplying moisturizers to keep them just as happy as the rest of the skin of your body.

Slather the creams, lotions, oils on, let your skin drink its thirst away, and forget about it.

It’s that simple.
